Tommy Rooney is a sports media personality and current graduate student at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Rooney's passion is creating entertaining and informative content about the ongoings of the sports world with a concentration in football and basketball. Rooney graduated with a degree in journalism from Lehigh University and is currently studying Television, Radio and Film at the Newhouse school. Rooney is a co-host on multiple Orange Television Network shows at Newhouse, including “Good Morning Sports Fans” and “Women’s Sports Update.” In 2021, Rooney created a podcast/YouTube show called The Boys Upstairs Show that is comedic informative. Rooney has done all editing, marketing, merchandising and producing of the show since its inception, which to date has over 150 episodes. The passion for sports and distaste of many legacy sports pundits is what drives Rooney to refine his abilities in the sports media landscape and eventually be a trusted personality on a major network show. What excites Rooney is that there is never a shortage of subject matter in the sports world, with new seasons comes new storylines and drama to dissect. The comedic side of cover sports also comes into play because Rooney believes that sports is our society's greatest escape and consuming negative content does not provide a better user experience than positive and comical content in Rooney’s eyes.
